- The Brooklyn Bridge connects Brooklyn and Manhattan, two of New York’s five boroughs, crossing the East River. When opened in 1883 it was the largest suspension bridge in the world. Brooklyn Bridge is 1,596 ft (486 m) long and 277 ft (84 m) tall and is one of the main tourist attractions in New York City.
- While there was once even a railway line on the bridge, the bridge is now open only to cars, pedestrians, and cyclists, and commercial vehicles are banned from using the bridge.
